 Hi! My name is Elsa.My class is starting to do Summer Learning Journey, This is my first lesson.

I am so happy that my first lesson is a drawing lesson, I really like to draw pictures.

Media

 I have learned about Media and it was fun, I always like to do Chromebook work with the teacher, it is so cool! 

I also learned that media is everywhere around us, like signs, movies, websites, Newspapers, televisions and video games.

It's not really hard and it's not really easy, Just in the  middle of them.

It’s also really fun to play with, I think I learned things when I was playing like all the different types of media around us.

I might find out more questions that I don’t know.

Whanaungatanga and Manaakitanga

Whanaungatanga is about building relationships through shared experiences and working together. It develops as a result of kinship with the focus being to bring people together and give others a sense of belonging. 

This comic shows that me and Kaylee working together to practise the race.

Manaakitanga is about showing showing respect to different people, groups and cultures. It is also about showing hospitality a host to make sure that people feel welcome in an unfamiliar place.

Persuasive Writing

Kia ora, over the past few weeks in class we have been learning about persuasive writing. Below is my persuasive writing. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Living on Venus

Did you know that Venus is the closest planet to Earth? Hello! My name is Elsa, and I’m going to convince you to live on Venus.

I want to live on Venus because Venus is nearly the same as earth.  Venus nearly has the same gravity and also has volcanoes, but it does have sulphate clouds. Also, if we can convince Venus to be our friend, the solar system will be our friend too!

Now we didn't find any life on Venus, that’s because there are a lot of sulphate clouds around it. But, I found out that the water that meets the sulfuric acid will turn into salt and water, and it will land on the surface of Venus. We can use this water to plant some trees on the planet, so the trees can make oxygen, then we can breathe without breathing masks.

Another thing I want to say is: we have 10 planets in our Solar system, they are: Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. If we can convince Mercury, Venus and Pluto(we can not convince the sun, Jupiter,Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Because they are made of air.) it would be great and we could all be friends. 

Space is AMAZING!!! There are some things that we didn't know, but we knew ourselves, we knew our Earth, we knew our Solar system!  

Brilliant astronauts, please think about this, I would like you to use the water to convince Venus, create the Second beautiful homes for us.Thank you very much!!!!!

Recap and Review

1. What is the main purpose of Instructional Writing?

It's main purpose that instructions on how to make or do things.

2. When I am creating an instructional text what type of words would I often use and what headings do I need to have in my instructional writing?

I often use:  1. pressent tense, 2. verb, 3. some words that can tell you to doing step by step, 4. measurements and quantities, 5. Adj. and Adv.      
that's title and sub-heading.

3. What are some things you need to make sure you do in an instructional text? Why do we need to do them?

We make it clear and detailed.      
Because that will make it easy to follow and do not make mistakes.

4. Over this past week you have created peanut butter sandwiches, paper planes and also done drawing. What type of instructions did you follow to create or do these things? 

I have followed a recipe and how to make somethings.
